Fueling A Sustainable Future
We don’t just talk about sustainability - we take action, because we believe that creating a better world for generations to come starts today.
Working Toward Zero Waste
Robust Recycling
We recycle cardboard, metal, paper, glass, and accepted plastic products, and we recycle uncommon items—such as batteries and printer cartridges—wherever possible.
Collaborative Composting
Millikin Dining works to collect organic materials—including food waste and compostable service items such as napkins and wooden stir sticks—to be composted into useable, nutrient-rich soil amendments including feeding our own Millikin Dining Garden.
Proactive Prevention
We use tracking and forecasting tools to proactively identify food waste trends in order to alter our preparation accordingly.
Showcasing Millikin Dining Garden
Located behind the Workman Family Softball Field on Millikin University’s campus, you’ll find the first steps of Millikin University Dining Garden. Featuring a wide variety of vegetables that Big Blue students enjoy throughout the academic year.
